Dandadan, Dandadan

High schoolers Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura hold opposing beliefs about the supernatural—Momo accepts the existence of ghosts while dismissing aliens, and Ken (nicknamed “Okarun” by Momo) maintains the opposite stance. To settle their disagreement, they make a wager that leads them to visit locations tied to their respective beliefs: Momo explores an alien hotspot while Okarun investigates a haunted site.

Their separate adventures quickly turn dangerous. Alien beings capture Momo, but their intervention inadvertently unlocks her dormant psychic powers by opening her chakras. At the same time, a malevolent spirit possesses Okarun, transforming his body. When they reunite, Momo and Okarun combine her newfound psychic abilities with his supernatural transformation to overcome the alien threat.

Following this initial encounter, the pair continues to face various supernatural challenges alongside a growing circle of allies that includes classmates, friends, family members, and new companions. Their battles against both spiritual entities and extraterrestrial forces serve as a backdrop for the developing romantic connection between Momo and Okarun.

The narrative initially centers on Okarun’s urgent mission to recover his stolen testicles (kintama), which becomes a driving force in the early storyline. Once this quest concludes successfully, the focus pivots to Momo’s plight when she falls victim to a sinister curse. This affliction progressively shrinks her physical form while simultaneously causing others to forget her existence entirely. The curse becomes the central conflict for the story’s later portion, as her friends and allies race against time to break the spell and return Momo to her normal state.
